5 Local Food Trucks We Love

Food truck culture has been exploding across California, expanding our notion of what “fast food” looks like and bringing vibrancy and culture to many cities. In big cities and small, food trucks add to the food culture of an area by providing quick service and delicious, on-the-go eats that are also convenient and match the local flavor. Here in SLO county, many food trucks are available for rent and cart their meals around town to wineries, special events, concerts, and more. Here are some of our favorite food trucks that are staples of the Central Coast community, hopefully some of which you will see around town soon!

Haute Skillet Truck

The Haute Skillet truck gets rave reviews from people who love the classic, yet expertly prepared, food truck itinerary: sandwiches and tacos. The pulled pork sandwiches, pork belly tacos, and beef, chicken, and beet wraps are phenomenal; Chef Anna Andriese’s formal training at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa ensures that you’ll find a new flavor in these old favorites. Look for the Haute Skillet truck at local wineries, or rent them for your own event.

The owner of the Grilled Cheese Incident food truck in SLO is tapping into that desire by consistently providing delicious, savory, and unique grilled creations for the Central Coast. Basically any kind of cheese and bread combo can be made, including sharp cheddar, Monterey jack, smoked applewood bacon, and 5 cheese mac & cheese on Brian’s sliced French bread, and more, meaning that you can get whatever you want out of this classic comfort food. The Pairing Knife

The Pairing Knife (TPK) describes itself as vineyard to table, and brings the best food and wine choices to places around the Central Coast. Chef Rivas prepares delicious sandwiches, hamburgers, tacos, and more. The Bianci Burger is delicious, a slider served on a brioche bun with brie cheese topped with pear, fig, red wine compote, caramelized onions, and romaine, with a balsamic reduction that pairs beautifully. TPK can be rented out for an event, or can be found around town based on their calendar.
