Tips for Flying SLO like a Pro

San Luis Obispo airport has long been a mainstay of the Central Coast community, and lately more changes have been flying in! On November 2nd,  a new, extremely efficient terminal will open, boosting the hospitality power of the region, and more flights are being added to bring tourists from all over to the Central Coast. If you’re arriving to or departing from our beautiful region by plane, here are some tips to make the most of the San Luis Obispo airport and enjoy your flight!

Arrive Early

Try to arrive at the airport around 90 minutes before the scheduled time of your flight, so that you will have time to check in, move through security, and arrive at your gate. Keep in mind that morning flights are the busiest time of the day at the San Luis Obispo Airport.

Pack Carefully

The TSA requires that all passengers follow the 3-1-1 rule regarding liquids: 3 ounces of liquid per container, all containers must fit inside 1 quart-sized bag, 1 bag per person. Liquids greater than 3.4 ounces (100mL) must be in checked luggage. There are exceptions for medications and infant food; for details, visit the TSA Liquids page.

Relax With a Drink and Shopping

Now that the airport’s new terminal is almost ready after 20 years, you’ll see sweeping views of rolling hills inspired by our area’s winery architecture, in addition to food service, and a wine bar featuring locally grown wines. New amenities at the terminal will include multiple charging stations at high-top tables, an outdoor area for service animals and private rooms for nursing mothers.
