April Local Featured Item: Birch Hill Organic Farms’ Meyer Lemons

Lately, the Central Coast’s foodie scene is growing to be just as impressive as our wine industry. With so many farm fresh ingredients available in our very own backyard, it would be a shame not to use them in our California cuisine! That’s why The Steakhouse at the Paso Robles Inn offers a different “Local Featured Item” menu each month. This month, Birch-Hill Organic Farm‘s Meyer Lemons are the star of our April special menu. Read on below to find out what Chef Ryan makes when life hands him lemons!

About Birch-Hill Organic Farms

Birch Hill Organic Farms is located on 5 acres of beautiful land in Atascadero where Toro Creek runs through, keeping their fruit trees green all year long. Since 1998, their team has been growing Organic Meyer Lemons and Organic Kiwis, always staying committed to organic and sustainable farming practices like fertilizing with organic manure and hand-weeding their fruit trees. Birch-Hill’s fruit is USDA certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers, so you can enjoy their sweet flavor without worrying.

Organic Meyer Lemons

Picked, packed, and shipped directly from the Birch-Hill orchard, these lemons are as fresh from the tree as can they can be. Birch Hill Organic Farm’s Meyer Lemons aren’t like any other lemon. A cross between lemon and Mandarin or sweet orange, their organic Meyer Lemons offer pure, powerful flavor that is pesticide-free. Thanks to the Central Coast’s microclimate, the cool coastal evenings develop the lemon’s bright yellow color while our warm, sunny days develop the fruit’s sweet flavor. But this sweet-tart fruit isn’t only delicious—it’s good for you, too, as lemons are naturally detoxifying, alkalinizing, and antioxidant. With delicious flavor, sustainable growing practices, and health benefits, adding Birch Hill’s Organic Meyer Lemons to The Steakhouse menu was a no-brainer!
