Central Coast Champagne for Toasting on NYE!

Year after year, New Year’s Eve calls for the bubbly. Popping bottles of champagne is an essential part of the celebration of the old year and the ringing in of the new. Luckily for Central Coast residents, there are no shortage of great quality champagne offerings from some of our favorite wineries in San Luis Obispo area. This year, celebrate with these fantastic sparkling wines, all of which are found in Paso Robles or San Luis Obispo Wine Country!

Laetitia Winery

Laetitia Winery, located in Arroyo Grande, might be a great first stop when you’re looking for sparkling wines. They have seven different offerings, including a Brut Rose, Non-vintage Brut Cuvee, a Brut Couqard. Additionally, they offer a holiday wine pack, where you can get three or six bottles of champagne for a reduced price. Laetitia was started back in the early 80s, and they have roots with a wine producer in France, Maison Deutz. These days, Laeitia is well-known for its sparkling wine variety. Visit their tasting room, where you can tryh alll their varieties and maybe join their Sparkling Wine Club.

With a colorful pink tasting room clearly visible from the highway, Derby Wine Estates in Paso Robles has always been good at standing out. The same goes for their wine. With many interesting, unique, and refreshing wines, they’ve developed a great reputation throughout Paso Robles Wine Country as one of its top wineries. The sterling reputation doesn’t stop for their sparkling wine offerings. Perfect for lovers of bubbly or sweet wine, their 2007 Sparkling Brut Rose or 2015 Rose would both be excellent to ring in the new year.

Cass Winery

Cass Winery‘s Sparkling Marsanne is a direct product of the vineyard’s location. Cass is located just east of the Templeton gap in the Paso Robles area; and the cooling breezes from the west combined with the warm inland temperature makes great wines that are similar to the Rhone Wine region in southern France. One of these varietals, Marsanne, is used to create a crisp, bright champagne with citrus notes. Try the Sparkling Marsanne for New Years, but you also couldn’t go wrong with any of their Marsanne wine offerings.

Clavo Cellars

Clavo, a bold winery in Templeton (near Paso Robles) has a unique sparkling wine offering in Corazon. Intrinsically tied to the terroir of its region, without adding any extra sugar, this champagne has notes of lemon zest, green apple, and lemon mousse with high levels of acidity. This wine is perfect for authentic wine lovers who have an appreciation for dry champagne.

Carmody-McKnight Estate

If you love sweet Champagne with fruity notes, you’ll love Carmody McKnight‘s offerings. Their traditional sparkling cuvee is made up with grapes grown in their chalky soil, about six miles away from Cambria on the West side of Paso Robles. The wine is aged in the bottle for 10 years. Try their Pomegranate Cuvee, made up of the original sparkling cuvee mixed with Pomegrane flvaors. For a splash of citrus, try their sparkling citron cuvee, and soon a citrus honeysuckle cuvee will be available. For lovers of champagne, you really can’t go wrong with Carmody McKnight!
