Tips for hiking with your furry friend:

• Keep your dog on the leash while hiking

• Watch out for poison ivy, poison oak, and sumac (all have leaves of three)

• Take some time to rest in the shade and have water breaks

• Make sure to bring: fresh water, doggie-bags, steady leash, and a collar with current ID tags

• After hiking, always check for fleas or ticks
