Meet Martin Beckett: Director of Hospitality at The Piccolo

This September, Martin Resorts will be opening a new luxury hotel in the heart of downtown Paso Robles: The Piccolo. Rooted in the rich history of sister property, the historic Paso Robles Inn, and a celebration of the Paso Robles community, every aspect of The Piccolo has been carefully chosen to reflect the authenticity, originality, and attitude that makes Paso Robles such a treasured destination, from the locally crafted art and furnishings to the important role of Director of Hospitality.

It is with great excitement that we introduce and welcome The Piccolo’s Director of Hospitality, long time local Martin Beckett, to the Martin Resorts team. In this role, Martin will introduce the next generation to a Paso Perfected with a modern, welcoming, and open approach to hospitality.

More About Martin

Martin, a hospitality professional who’s worked and lived in Paso Robles for the past 13 years, will oversee the hotel’s hospitality experience, from directing the beverage program and guest services to staff training and management. Martin, who starts at The Piccolo on June 17, recently helmed the culinary program at local favorite hotspot Pappy McGregor’s, where he created an extensive menu of award-winning Gastro Pub menu items and coached staff to provide a friendly and casual yet attentive service. Under his leadership, the Irish American pub won the local “Best Pub/Bar” choice award 11 times every year since they opened in 2006. Prior to that, he served as sous chef for Schooners Wharf in Cayucos for two years, supervising staff and food preparations for the extensive menu.

“We’re thrilled Martin is joining our team as the Director of Hospitality for The Piccolo,” said Margaret Johnson, COO of Martin Resorts, “he really gets what Paso Robles is about and where it’s going, which is what The Piccolo is all about. We’re creating a “Paso Perfected” vibe which brings a new contemporary urban sensibility to the region, which is attracting more luxury travelers looking for an elevated hospitality experience while maintaining the authentic rustic charm of wine country.”

Martin is excited by the challenge of ensuring he helps the team deliver on the “Paso Perfected” brand promise for the hotel, a 17,000-square-foot property which will boast 23 Luxury King Rooms and an exclusive suite, The Piper Wine Lounge, and Tetto—the first and only rooftop bar in town.

Looking Forward to Progress in Paso

“I think The Piccolo is an exciting, much-needed addition to the Paso Robles hotel scene, bringing a large-city feel that high-end clientele want while keeping the small-town hospitality they will remember and return for,” said Martin.

With his passion for both people and Paso Robles, Martin is the perfect person to bring The Piccolo’s sophisticated, yet relaxed brand to life. The Piccolo was founded with the vision to seamlessly fit into the narrative of Paso Robles and be a catalyst for the next generation of experiences that people will enjoy, and we feel confident that’s exactly Martin will deliver in his new role.
