MLK Day Weekend: 3-Day Itinerary

The only thing we love more than New Years Eve itself is the handful of three-day weekends that come just after it. In fact, because of the booming wildlife, amazing hotel deals, and restaurant month celebrations,  January is one of our favorite times to visit San Luis Obispo County. Kick off 2018 right and save $100 when you stay 3 nights for a fun and affordable Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend adventure on the Central Coast.

1. See a Movie

Spend a rainy day at one of many unique theaters that give guests a nostalgic movie-watching experience. The Fremont Theater and the Palm Theater are both conveniently located in downtown San Luis Obispo, giving guests easy access to the countless restaurants that call the Central Coast home, and unbeatable deals in celebration of Restaurant Month. If you are looking for an extra dose of nostalgia, the famous Sunset Drive In Theater is just down the road, which boasts an old fashioned concessions stand and inexpensive admission.

2. Visit the Elephant Seals

The Central Coast is home to an abundance of sea- and wildlife, especially during the winter months. Take a scenic drive to San Simeon and welcome thousands of huge elephant seals home from their annual migration. Schedule a visit to nearby Hearst Castle to round out your visit with a piece of California history.

3. Go Wine Tasting

Pay a visit to one of hundreds of the Central Coast’s renowned wineries. We love to visit Tolosa during the winter months because of their wide variety of award-winning red wines, and their stunning indoor tasting room.

4. Have a Cozy Beach Bonfire

It may be a little chilly outside, but we think that is all the more reason to bundle up and head down to the beach for some s’mores. There’s nothing cozier than sunset by the fire! For more tips on hosting an awesome beach bonfire, click here.
