It’s no secret that Paso Robles, California and the greater Central Coast area have become a nationally-acclaimed destination for foodies and winos alike. With most of the country’s fruit and vegetables grown in our very own backyard, we are spoiled with easy access to farm-fresh food thanks to our local Farmers’ Markets that occur weekly in almost every SLO County town. For this month’s locally featured item at The Steakhouse, we’re using fresh heirloom tomatoes from our local Farmers’ Market in a variety of dishes (and even drinks) that we’re excited to share with you all September long. If you’re staying at the Paso Robles Inn during your visit to the Central Coast, you’re in luck—the Paso Robles Farmers’ Market takes place just across the street from the Inn in the Downtown City Park every Tuesday from 3-6 PM. Stroll through the charming downtown square beneath grand Oak Trees as you shop for fresh ingredients plucked directly from the famous vines and trees of Paso Robles. And because tomatoes are such a versatile, staple ingredient, Chef Kyle has designed three dinner specials that are sure to please any palate. Opt for our Heirloom Tomato Salad with pickled mushroom, fried blue cheese, sprouts, and a balsamic reduction or our house-made gnocchi tossed in a tomato-sage sauce with chorizo. For those with a hearty appetite, you can’t go wrong with heirloom tomato-braised short ribs served with fried potato ravioli.
Last but certainly not least, we were so excited about this month’s ingredient that we’ve crafted not one but TWO Bloody Mary specials for you to enjoy. Keep it classic with our Garden Fresh Bloody Mary made with Smirnoff cucumber vodka and house-made mary mix garnished with celery and tomatoes. Or, turn the heat up a notch with our Spicy Bloody Mary, made with Wine Shine ghost pepper brandy and house-made mary mix garnished with jalapeno and cucumber.
